Okay. So I just had to share this. However, before I proceed to explain why I decided to share these thoughts, and quotes, let me start off by saying that the last quote on this page is one of my absolute favorite. I agree 100%. To me, fearless is not the absence of fear. It’s not being completely unafraid. To me, fearless is having fears. Fearless is having doubts. Lots of them. To me, fearless is living in spite of those things that scare you to death.
I am deathly afraid of heights. Still, I have gone parasailing and hang gliding. I parasailed at 800 feet and went hang gliding at 2,000 feet. Can I even still honestly say that I am afraid of heights? Sure, I screamed and was skirmish from time to time, but still, my greatest fear is not living and not doing what I was put on this Earth to do.
People call me brave all the time. That’s great, for them. But, I am not brave. I simply refuse to be paralyzed by fear. A favorite quote of mine from the Divergent books is, “”fear doesn’t shut you down, it wakes you up.” I relate so much to that character of Beatris prior, because fear sets a fire inside of me. We cannot live our lives in fear. We need to face fear in the eyes and truly live an authentic life. You only live once after all, right?
So many people let fear stop them from going after what they truly want, but why should I?
So, if you are reading this, I encourage you to run at full speed towards your fears. You should be controlling your fears, not the other way around.
